This week in Kindergarten we have been practicing phrases in Spanish to express basic needs. We learned a new song, and are using the vocabulary to express what we see in pictures. Here are the expressions we are currently practicing: Tengo hambre. = I'm hungry. Tengo sed. = I'm thirsty. Tengo calor. = I'm hot. Tengo frío. = I'm cold. Students also did a partner activity to practice saying the phrases to each other. One student said a phrase in Spanish, while the other student circled a picture to match what their partner said. They did a great job communicating with each other in Spanish! Below you will see pictures of students engaged in our partner activity, as well as a link to the song we've been singing in class. Enjoy!

This week our Student Teacher, Señorita Waldo did an activity with us about el otoño (Fall) y las hojas (leaves). Students recited a poem in Spanish about a tree losing its leaves and acted it out together. They then learned and practiced words to describe leaves in Spanish:
grande = big mediano = medium pequeño = small amarillo = yellow anaranjado = orange rojo = red café = brown The students really enjoyed the activity and learning with Señorita! This week students created a poster to introduce themselves and share how they are feeling in Spanish by using the phrases Me llamo (My name is) and Estoy (I am feeling). They have done such a great job learning and using this new vocabulary and this was a great activity to pull it all together. Look for these posters to come home sometime next week!
