From now until mid-April, students will have a student teacher in Spanish class, and I'd like to introduce myself! My name is Haley Waldo, and I'm so excited for the opportunity to be here at Stevenson Elementary and spend time with your kids teaching them Spanish. I'm a graduate of The Ohio State University with a B.A. in Spanish, and I'm currently working toward an M.Ed. In World Language Education at Ohio State. I absolutely love the Spanish program here and am so impressed by how quickly and how much the students are learning. I feel very lucky to be able to learn here with Señora Deprez and your amazing kids!
This week in Spanish class, we finished up our family unit and started learning about los colores. The colors that we learned are: rojo verde anaranjado azul amarillo morado negro rosado blanco (white) café For extra practice at home, see if your child can tell you the color of things in your house in Spanish!

This week in Kindergarten we worked on finishing up our Family Unit. The students are each creating a list of all of the people in their family and then drawing a picture to go along with it. Look for these to come home sometime next week!
This week we have been using our family vocabulary to label pictures. To do this, we practiced sounding out the Spanish words so that we would know which one matched with each person in a picture. Students also did a writing activity where they labeled the members of both Arthur's and Peppa Pig's families. This was our first real reading and writing experience in Spanish and the kids did a great job! For a little bit of extra practice at home, see if your child can show you which Spanish word matches each of the people in the family pictures below. el abuelo la abuela
